This Committee is governed by
MAIW’s 1st Vice-President. Each year, the Committee
organizes a list of Activities in collaboration with
the Welcoming Committee, the Communication Committee,
the Legislation Committee and the Fund-Raising Committee
that will take place from September to June.
The Activities are in the form of
Seminars, Lectures, Public Speaking Contests etc. Some
Activities also allow Participants to acquire Professional
Development Units (PDU’s).
This committee is governed by MAIW’s 2nd Vice-President
and organizes and publishes the MAIW Bulletin both in
French and in English. The Committee elaborates a list
of Editorial Content and coordinates the publication
of six Bulletins each year. Further, the Committee is
also responsible for finding sponsors to finance the
publication of the Bulletin.

organized by MAIW and is in charge of the registrations
which it forwards to and follows-up with the 1st Vice-President.
The Committee also takes photos during these Activities
This Committee is in charge
of MAIW’s new Membership and renewals of Membership.
It keeps up-to-date the MAIW’s Membership data
base. Further, the Committee forwards a list of the
new Members to the Bulletin Committee for publication
in the Bulletin.
Through the Membership form, the
Committee recruits Members who wish to get involved
in the various MAIW Committees and compiles the topics
of interest of Members for future activities.
COMMUNICATION: The purpose of
this Committee is to inform the Members, Professional
Associations, Medias and the General Public of MAIW’s
activities. In order to increase the exposure of some
of MAIW’s activities, the Committee issues and
follow-up press releases in the medias.
TELEPHONE: This Committee informs
Members of the various activities organized by MAIW
and incites them to participate.
This Committee informs MAIW’s Members of recent
decisions rendered by the Courts and Amendments to Laws
and By-laws pertinent to the Insurance Industry through
legal capsules presented at most of the activities of
MAIW and in the legal columns published in MAIW’s
Bulletin and website.
This Constitution and By-laws Committee periodically
reviews and updates MAIW’s Constitution and By-laws.
The Committee advises MAIW’s Executive Committee
on the issues relating to amendments of the Constitution
and By-laws. The Committee sees that the decisions taken
by MAIW and its Executive Committee are in compliance
with the Constitution and By-laws.
This Committee organizes a Fund-Raising Event each year
in order to gather funds to donate to Charitable Organizations
which help women in need. The funds are given to these
Organizations during MAIW’s Annual General Meeting
in May.

The Cowan Award is sponsored by Cowan Insurance Brokers
Ltd. and consists of a National Annual Prize being awarded
to the Regional Association that excelled in promoting
Education and Achievements of its members.
Throughout the year, the Cowan Award
Committee gathers information regarding MAIW’s
Activities, Bulletins and Membership, etc. and files
a submission with the Canadian Association of Insurance
Women, which presents the award at the Annual Convention.
MAIW participates each year in this
contest and it was awarded the Cowan Award back in 2004.
This Committee organizes from A to Z MAIW’s Annual
Golf Tournament which is held in early July each year
and is attended by approximately 500 people from the
Damage Insurance Industry. The Committee also recruits
Sponsors and Volunteers to ensure the success of this
Activity.
This Committee is in charge of creating and updating
MAIW’s web site. It sees that the relevant information
regarding MAIW is available on the website.
The Committee provides a translation service to other Committees. Further, they also translate various documents published by the M.A.I.W. as well as documents from the Canadian Association of Insurance Women.
This Committee is governed by
former Presidents of MAIW. The Committee has the mandate
of choosing the Charitable Organizations that will receive
the funds collected during the Annual MAIW Fund-Raising
Event.
Further, the Committee coordinates
the selection process of the Insurance Woman of the
Year and selects the winner of the Mildred Jones Award.
The latter is chosen by the Members of this Committee
from all of the Candidates proposed by their peers in
the Insurance Industry.
After consulting with the other Members
of the Committee, the Past President of MAIW is also
responsible for the nominations to MAIW’s Executive
Committee, who is elected at the Annual General Meeting
each May.
This ad hoc Committee is responsible for organizing
and coordinating the Canadian Association of Insurance
Women’s Annual Convention which will be held in
Montreal from May 25th to May 29th, 2011.
